I was a bit sad about it recently and decided to purchase a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 to just mess around on my PC, hoping to maybe learn a things or two, enough to get a baseline for some maybe track I could do….Īnd it ignited my passion back! I ended up buying another axe, a Dean Custom 350F, and been practicing each day for 3 weeks straight on it, sometimes using the Epiphone to build my calluses or just have fun. I then decided to pick up the Bass, maybe it would be easier with my left hand? Bought a Schecter Stiletto Custom 4, but turns out it hurt my hand even more (duh, the frets are even bigger), so I gave up. I never really learned how to play guitar, even though I toyed around on and off with an old acoustic playing badly Nirvana and The Cranberries song in the early 2000 from some old tabs books lent by a friend.įast forward as an adult, I purchased an Epiphone EJ-200 SCE, but never really had time to play and realized that my left hand was hurting and lost motor-skills on my ring and pinky fingers. Just slow casual play and enjoying practice for the first time since turning off Rocksmith. If I want metal theres more than enough gain between the amp and pod to chug if I reach that point.įor now, chill and happy. Delay, Chorus and presto im 80s guitar tones. Everything else I can honestly get by with the old pod 2.0 from early 2000s. Bookmarked somersault lofi pedal and a generation loss pedal for later. Might go for a nice lofi pedal or something later on since the old Pod didnt exactly have vibrato or bit crusher stuff (though it has nice reverb and chorus). Wife thought the slow tonal stuff Im doin just starting out was pretty chill. You can just pick something and noodle around with theory and make all kinds of fun. Found memorizing theory and what chords go together, how to find shapes or areas of the neck from certain chords that are general good tones to play when playing in certain keys, tone control.these are what really let you have fun. Okay kid you drew Thor in that one pose but can you draw him in any others? Yeah same thing. Starting out it was " I wanna play that song" and then you realize thats like learning to draw and learning to be able to draw just that one picture you saw. Enjoying just doing some chord transitions and practicing where to go on the neck based on what the root note is. Wife got me a buncha nice stuff for my birthday. Let's just say I won't be going all tube for a while lol I immediately wondered about the price of a 6550 tube if one ever needed replacing. Recently though, I've been playing more Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac because of my new alembic that I can't seem to put down.Įdit: While asleep last night, a scary thought woke me up. Does anyone here know how the 190b sounds compared to the original all tube coliseum which is now impossible to find? The songs I've been playing are mostly classic rock or prog with a huge focus on Yes and Rush. My research on the Sunn has been less successful but it's an all tube head for (relatively) cheap. This is a plus for me because I'm planning to play it in the dorms while trying not to bother my roommates and the SVT-II is the bass head that I lie awake at night thinking about. So my question to you guys is, which one of these is the better deal and which one will I like more? My research has told me that the SVT-III sounds just like the SVT-II but not as loud. The SVT is being offered at $460 total and the 190b is being offered at $745 total. Anyway, fast forward to today and I've been talking to people on reverb with two of them giving me offers on an ampeg SVT-III non-pro or a Sunn 190b. Right now I have a fender rumble that I keep around so I can head over to my buddy's place if we ever want to jam. I have an ampeg ba112 which I left at home when I went to school in september. So here's the situation: I've been learning bass for about a year now(and I still suck lol) but at this point I'm sort of over my combo amp.
